Vegetation Management Services
We utilize different types of equipment to perform these services, which includes the following:
- Conventional agricultural tractors equipped with mower types including rotary (“brush hog”), flail and sickle bar, as well as front end loader mounted material handling attachments (grapplers, forks, buckets, etc.). This equipment is well suited to moderate to steep slopes and larger open areas such as landfills, utility right of way, brownfields and private lands.
- Compact track loaders (CTLs) equipped with rotary, flail or heavy-duty forestry mulcher heads. This equipment is more maneuverable, efficient, and able to access areas that other machines cannot but is more cost effective than the much smaller hand operated equipment. This low ground pressure equipment is well suited for slopes and wetter areas where rubber-tired equipment struggles. Mulching vegetation not only restores property by leaving a more attractive appearance but also introduces valuable nutrients back into the soil as the mulched vegetation decomposes. The mat of material left on the ground creates its own erosion control.
- Compact excavators equipped with cutter heads provide an excellent platform for a precise, surgical approach to brush management over fences, on embankments, in ditches, etc. Ability to access difficult terrain and selectively clear away unwanted vegetation while leaving valuable property and timber undisturbed is the strong suit of this equipment.
We are experienced in vegetation management services on projects including landfills, USEPA Superfund sites, industrial facilities, and for private landowners. These projects typically consist of varied terrain featuring challenging slopes and sensitive areas, often including infrastructure and assets which must be avoided to prevent damage. Specific goals for vegetation management vary, and we strive to tailor the finished work to what the client needs. We perform all tasks with safety as our number one priority, both for our personnel and other parties.
Vegetation clearing and control goals and examples:
- Compliance with regulatory requirements such as annual municipal landfill maintenance
- Compliance with operation and maintenance requirements on environmental cleanup sites
- Pond and waterway dikes
- Overgrowth reduction and maintenance on utility rights-of-way
- Public multi-use trail maintenance
- Private landowners:
- Access improvements, hunting area / trails / food plot creation
- Field and pasture reclamation
- Creation of fire breaks / fire fuel reduction
- Aesthetic improvements
- Building site preparation
