Jonathan Brandes has over 25 years of professional experience in geoscience and environmental consulting. He is a Professional Geologist, currently licensed in New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. Brandes has a Bachelors of Science in Geophysics from the State University of New York. His expertise is environmental project management, groundwater monitoring, site characterization, geographic information system (GIS), data management and regulatory support. Mr. Brandes utilizes ArcGIS® and Microsoft® Access Database as tools to help efficiently manage environmental data. Experience has shown that a properly maintained project GIS and Database are irreplaceable assets, which enable long term data management efficiencies, that result in significant cost savings. He is responsible for implementation of groundwater monitoring programs for various projects including operating and closed landfills and other industrial facilities. Mr. Brandes is also proficient in providing NYSDEC EQuIS data deliverables and developing/implementing emerging contaminants monitoring strategies.
Mr. Brandes has great communication skills and a proven track record of maintaining excellent working relationships with clients, regulators, co-workers and other project team members. He is a key member on large projects requiring multiple consultants and contractors working together to efficiently complete required objectives.
Mr. Brandes is an experienced project manager having successfully managed large and small jobs. With his focus on client needs, knowledge of regulatory requirements and substantial experience, he has the toolset required to successfully navigate complex projects.
Some of Mr. Brandes’ additional experience includes preparation of environmental monitoring plans, sampling and analysis plans, quality assurance plans, permit applications, health and safety plans and reports. His broad field experience includes drilling and well installation oversight, many types of sampling techniques, operating survey grade GPS, surface and borehole geophysical logging, stream monitoring and radionuclide identification monitoring. Mr. Brandes has additional experience in construction oversight of AS/SVE systems, geosynthetics installation and contaminated soil remediation. Mr. Brandes is 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER trained, OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor trained, OSHA Confined Space Entry trained and has had incident investigation, line supervisor and audit safety training. Mr. Brandes has substantial experience working in hazardous conditions utilizing training, personnel protective equipment, air monitoring devices and various air sampling techniques to ensure worker safety. Additionally, Mr. Brandes has had Bridge Training which is designed to train professionals to properly relate, communicate and manage third party situations involving environmental projects.
